Student
assistance guidelines
- Limited
financial assistance will be offered on a needs basis to bona
fide undergrad-
uate or postgraduate students only.
- For accommodation
costs, assistance will only be offered towards room and board
at Ursula college on ANU campus.
- A maximum
contribution of $100 towards travel costs will be offered to 3rd
year
or Honours year undergraduate students only. We are unable to
provide any travel
support to postgraduate students.
- Students
requesting support should write to the Convenor, Dr Rowena Ball
Rowena.Ball@anu.edu.au
before December 12, 2001, attaching proof of current enrolment
or a letter from their supervisor, lecturer, or head of department.
- Applications
for support will be assessed by the organisers andpayment to successful
applicants will be made during the Summer School, as credits towards
accommodation costs at Ursula College.
- The exact
amount of financial assistance offered to students will not be
known until all applications for assistance have been received.
To assess the level of assistance offered, it is important that
we know in advance how many student participants require financial
support.

Accommodation
We have reserved
a block of rooms at

for participants in Dy-
namicSummer.
For students, the daily rates at Ursula College for single rooms
are $38.50 bed & breakfast
and $44 with dinner. For others, the above rates are $49.50 and
$55 respectively. (These
rates may be changed without notice.) The College is situated on
the grounds of ANU.
Participants are requested to book their accommodation directly

the ANU Campus and provides motel-syle accommodation.
- Liversidge
Court http://www.anu.edu.au/accom/liversidge.html
is a complex of com-
pletely self-contained apartments, also located on campus. Participants
(other than in-
vited lecturers) requiring this accommodation should book directly
with University House
or Liversidge Court. Accommodation is in high demand so we recommend
that partici-
pants book early.

Child
Care
Pre-school
children:
Parents requiring
any of these child care services are advised to contact the centres/program
in plenty of time, as these services are often heavily booked.
The Summer School organisers may be able to contribute towards child
care expenses
incurred at an ANU centre by bona fide students only. Sudents requesting
this assistance

Teenagers:
- Teenagers
usually like Canberra, and it is known as a safe and interesting
place for them, with good week-day public bus services
(for timetables see
http://www.action.act.gov.au/default.cfm),
shopping malls with places like Games Workshop, cinemas, and a
large variety of sport
and recreational facilities. There is also the Civic Youth Centre,
6247 0770, Cooyong
Street Braddon (an easy walk from campus), which offers a drop-in
service and recreation program and local information of interest
to young people. Murrays Coaches 132251 runs a daily bus to the
beach at Broulee.
